HONK! Festival of activist street bands

I am one of the coordinators for the HONK! Festival of activist street bands. This festival happens every October, and brings together musicians from around the world who use their music in support of social justice. I focus specifically on creating partnerships between bands and local activist/community organizations and helping them think of creative actions to do together during the festival.

La Orquesta Sinfónica de la Juventud en Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia

I taught there for 3 weeks in 2010, and made a short documentary about them as part of my semester studying with SIT Cochabamba.

This video is about an orchestra with which I worked in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, during my semester abroad in the Fall of 2010. For 2.5 weeks, I worked with this orchestra, and this video expresses how it uses music for social change for the youth of Bolivia. For more information about the orchestra, visit www.sicor.org.bo, or its facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Orquesta-Sinfonica-de-la-Juventud-Boliviana-Hombres-Nuevos/104121266297320
